Visit “What a Wonderful World: An Audiovisual Poem” at the Variety Arts Theater, Los Angeles.

Edited by Udo Kittelmann, “What A Wonderful World” unfolds as a poetic, sensory journey across the historic theater’s six stories. Ascending each floor—from the main stage and the ballroom down to the basement—the “audiovisual poem” unravels like a maze or a corridor of funhouse mirrors, embracing an immersive, cinematic format that reimagines how moving images are experienced.

“What A Wonderful World” will be accompanied by a series of artist-centric events held every Sunday from February 8 through March 20, 2026. Participating artists include Doug Aitken, Patty Chang, Mike D, Fiona Duncan, Douglas Gordon, Harmony Holiday, Arthur Jafa, Dean Kissick, NEW YORK, Bunny Rogers, Lexee Smith, Barbara T. Smith, Alicia Novella Vasquez and more. These free gatherings invite the public to return to the presentation over time, deepening engagement with the work.
